Antonia's Handmade Heirloom Set
The Nightgown
The nightgown is handmade from fine, long-staple mercerized cotton lawn or cotton batiste, approximately 80–110 GSM. This delicate natural fabric is breathable and soft against the skin, with a subtle luminosity that feels refined without relying upon the artificial shine of polyester or the expense and delicacy of silk.
Its above-the-knee A-line silhouette is youthful, graceful, and comfortable for sleeping. A softly shaped neckline is bordered with narrow scalloped lace and supported by wider lace-trimmed straps. Fine pintucks bring quiet structure to the center bodice, while genuine shell buttons offer a small touch of natural radiance.
Symmetrical bands of lace insertion follow the lines of the body and continue uninterrupted to the bottom hem. Their placement creates length and beauty without requiring costly expanses of all-over lace. A scalloped lace border completes the hem, while a tiny lavender bow at the neckline provides a restrained reference to St. Lydia, the seller of purple cloth and patroness of Vowed.
The back remains smooth and opaque, with a moderately lowered lace-trimmed neckline and carefully shaped seams. It is beautiful from every angle while remaining comfortable, secure, and appropriate for nightly wear.
The Robe
The coordinating robe is handmade from lightweight cotton sateen, approximately 110–140 GSM. Its satin weave gives the cotton a soft hand and gentle natural sheen, creating an elegant appearance while preserving the breathability, durability, and practicality of a washable natural fiber.
The robe falls to the ankles in a sweeping wrap silhouette. A lace-edged shawl collar frames the neckline, while a wide self-fabric ivory sash gathers the garment gently at the waist. When tied, the robe evokes the image of a precious gift wrapped and waiting to be received.
Its romantic bishop sleeves are fashioned from airy ivory cotton voile rather than expensive all-over lace. Narrow lace-insertion bands travel along the sleeves, preserving their ethereal character while making the design more economical to reproduce. Structured sateen cuffs are finished with delicate lavender embroidery, carrying St. Lydia’s purple into the garment as a discreet signature rather than a dominant color.
Narrow scalloped lace traces the robe’s opening and hem. The back is intentionally simple and fluid, allowing the fabric’s graceful fall and subtle sheen to speak for themselves.
Handmade Character
Every Antonia set is intended to be individually cut, sewn, assembled, and finished by hand, giving it the character of an heirloom rather than a mass-produced piece of sleepwear. Its workmanship may include:
Hand-guided pintucking
Carefully aligned lace insertion
Individually attached shell buttons
Enclosed or French seams
Hand-finished lace edges
Custom lavender cuff embroidery
A purple woven Vowed label
Final inspection and pressing by its maker
Small variations in stitching and lace placement are not imperfections, but quiet evidence of the hands responsible for bringing each garment into being.
